(Posted on behalf of Tanya by the administrator.) Oris George wants to write about nostalgia, and sometimes, he needs reminded that nostalgia comes in good and bad memories.  Recently, Oris and his dear wife Patsy came to Penrose, Colorado for a visit.  We also had some out of town guests from Michigan, Larry and Carol.  [...]

Grandmother’s music box

This morning, I sat at my desk trying to figure out what I needed to do to make this a productive day. A song from my childhood crept into my relaxed brain, and I found myself humming a favorite tune, My Grandfather’s Clock. As I hummed the song, precious memories of my little brother and [...]

Back Road Awakenings

Do you dance? Mr. Meadow Lark danced across my balcony this morning, disrupting my day and agitating the natives. After he’d waltzed his way through traffic to get here… He informed me that Oris had welcomed the coyotes into the fold and reminded me he’s not too happy about it. I dare say, he wasn’t [...]

Elmer Coyote Travels the Back Roads

Nostalgia brings memories of the way it used to be, and I was thinking about ole Elmer and his plight. I mean… His brother really does need a wife and if he’s just out there whining away the night, er… I mean howling away the night… he’s just gonna keep everyone awake. So, I have [...]

Back Roads – Nostalgia for Today’s World

When Oris George first contacted me (Charger) about creating a website for his donkeys and mules, I was a bit taken back. I do high-tech stuff and this guy wants me to work with donkey poop and mule dung? I’m better than that, but then I visited with him a bit and we talked about [...]

Mr. Meadow Lark has returned

Just as day beat a gong in the east I heard a meadow Lark. Sure as shootin’ Mr. Golden Throat is back. I went to empty the trash. He called down to me and asked if Michelle Obama would be traveling thru our home town this summer. I told him I had not a clue.

Swing Sets of Yesterday

Remember the old tire swing on the oak tree? Everyone had one way back when… Well, now these kids have to get a swing set from the superstore. You know the kind, brassy, shiney and sparkling new? Well, I just think that’s terrible. I think everyone ought to have a tire swing on an old [...]
